5 Feet of Fresh Colorado Snow

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Loveland reported 5 feet of fresh snow during the past week.  Denver was blanketed in snow today.  Fort Collins reported 5 inches of snow.  The roads were icy and all I could think about was continuing to drive on highway 6, getting off on 70 and hitting up Beaver Creek who reported 7 new inches today.  I sat in my office and watched the snowfall visualizing bombing down a run with powder shots hitting my face.  I left work and ended up at the ski shop picking up my Gotama’s which are my rock skis this year.  I hit multiple rocks on Breckenridge during our powder day last Saturday.  The ski shop was busy and I imagine the ski resorts will to be very busy this year.  The fear is they will be so slow due to the economy that some have taken extreme measures such as laying off employees.  I hope the snow gods prevail and prove the forecasters wrong.

When you take your next ski trip, be sure to check out our Colorado Ski Reports showing ski reports from all of the major resorts and ski areas and or our Coloraod Ski Traffic Report guiding you to the mountains.  Hope these sites help you out for your next ski vacation or ski trip.

Colorado Ski Trips Are Being Postponed

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

Breckenridge reports 9 inches of snow today. However, a rippin skier friend of ours, also known as Corn Muncher, postponed his trip to Colorado due to the lack of snow. This weekend is the 36 hour weekend at Keystone. Last year, I remember being in waist deep pow pow in the outback. This year, I will not be in waist deep powder at Keystone during the 36 hour weekend. Actually, nobody will be in waist deep powder. Unless of course there is some miraculous BIG DUMP! I’m not complaining, so please do not take it that way. Just giving you the facts. I am being patient, as I am sure many of you are. Keep on praying to the snow gods and our wish of a monstrous season will arrive! If you have plans to ski this season and there’s not enough snow, just be like Corn Muncher and postpone your trip as opposed to cancelling. Have a great day!

It’s Dumping Snow

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

It’s dumping snow in the Colorado Rockies!!! My skis are in the shop getting a tune. I’m already thinking about how early I have to wake up on Saturday morning to beat the traffic. I have set plans to ski in a 4-some at Beaver Creek on Saturday. I can’t wait. The snow keeps on coming. Right now, Beaver Creek is reporting another 5 inches of new POW POW!!! That’s 31 inches in 7 days. Vail reports 36 inches in 7 days. Keystone reports 23 inches and Breckenridge is reporting 21 inches in seven days. So…this weekend will be spread out by the Front Range weekend warriors.

Keep the snow coming Snow Gods!!! And keep on praying to the Snow Gods! Our prayers are being answered. For those who can afford taking a sick day, now is the time. Drop your work, and sprint to the mountains. There is just so much snow!!!

Finally, be careful out there. There are a lot of people who are simply not great skiers. Not knocking them…but this is one reason why I wear a helmet. It’s scary when you almost get hit by an out of control skier. Ski-Blog just wrote an article about this. They talk about the gaper. Check out this article when you get a chance, there are some good tips!!! The title of the article is Learn Some Etiquette.
