Powder Shot to the Face

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

Have you ever had one of these? A powder shot to the face? If you have, you know the feeling. It’s tremendously rewarding. On Saturday, I stood in a crowd of 50 plus people with my tallest Rippin Skier and hiked to the top of the ridge in Montezuma Bowl at Arapahoe Basin. Once we cleared the first fence, we quickly clicked into our skis and dropped in the bowl. I can tell you it was one of the scarier times with 50 plus crazy skiers and snowboarders going as fast as they can to get a fresh line of DEEP POW. I traversed and nearly got nailed twice so I quickly made a hard left and bombed down. I had a great line and was making killer turns. With each turn, I felt the powder nailing my face more and more. It’s truly a fantastic feeling. I was in my element and was increasing speed. I was knee deep. I found myself going quite fast and floating through the deep fresh powder. As I reached the lift, I realized that this is why I am still living here in Colorado. The love for skiing only multiplied during this run. It’s times like this that I know I am living a great life. Sure…I may not have all the money in the world, but even if I did, you can’t buy the feeling of a face shot aka powder shot to the face.

Skiing Magazine is out!

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

I received my Skiing magazine with reviews of all the new ski gear. I’m pumped to see the Gotama received an amazing review. If you haven’t tried them out, go for it. They rock deep pow, groomers…ANYWHERE. Also, check out Salomon’s The Rocker – looks really great. Only gripe I see…it comes in one size only, so it’s not versatile this year for all sizes.

Biggest frustration…I didn’t see one review of boots showing they fit for people with wide feet. Take a look at our society. There are many people with wide feet. Why aren’t WE being catered to?

Enjoy the reviews. It gets me all excited to get out there. Our season starts in about two months at the end of October.
