Her first day back on skis at The Legend

Guest post from The Rippin Lady. The Rippin Lady was granted freedom and an unexpected powder day this past Saturday. See what she has to say about her first day back on skis at The Legend.

Saturday at A-Basin was awesome in all the right ways. For starters I got to carpool and catch up with some old friends. Then Loveland Pass opened right before we reached the Loveland exit saving us an assload of time (read more time for powder turns and freshies). Then no lift lines. And then there was the powder. No, it wasn’t waist deep like some will be experiencing this week. It was 6-8 inches and it was glorious! Even though Montezuma opened at 9 am, we couldn’t get enough of the Lenawee powder. Don’t worry, we headed back to Montezuma for a run but Lenawee was where it was at. Our quick run on the backside was crappy at top, crappy at the bottom, and full of soft, fluffy, semi-freshies in the middle. However, those semi-fresh turns were not enough to keep us in Montezuma. Back to Lenawee please.

After a quick stop at the BM (black mountain lodge) for the retrieval of feeling in my right foot and some weird crispy sweet potato fries that need a lot of salt, we headed over for a Pali ride and some West Wall action. And that is all she wrote.

My summary of my summary is that I missed getting out on skis the past few years and this one morning at A-Basin almost made up for all the days lost. The only thing that could have made the experience better, aside from deeper powder since that is a clear given, would have been if the Rippin Skier himself could have joined me. Luckily, we have one morning together at Breckenridge under our belts together and we have one day in January scheduled. My goal is to have a great season and beat the RS down the slopes once or twice.

Peace!

See you on the slopes.
