I’m sad to report the Jah Loves are on their way back to the Nordica factory. I took them to the shop for a tune in preparation for an excellent upcoming weekend in Steamboat. They needed just a bit of work, not too much as I only brought them out a few times last season. As I stepped to the counter, the tech pulled the skis apart and turned one over. Ouch, my stomach dropped as I knew instantly this was not a good sign. He showed me how the ski was separating from the base and the top on the edge and it was a long separation.
A clear manufacturer’s defect as he so eloquently stated, probably trying to make me feel better. It’s just a ski, but I became so attached to it as it is clearly the best ski I’ve ever skied on in my over 20 year career. I think I’m most sad because I may never have that graphic in my possession again. It’s the original Jah Love graphic and it’s sik! Sure enough, I took my Jester bindings home, hanging my head low. I still have a kick ass pair of Gotama’s, but they’re just not the Jah Love’s.

To make myself feel better, I skied on the Gotama’s on Saturday and had an excellent day at the basin. The Pali lift was running and it was great to get back on that 2 person chair. I’m stoked for Steamboat, and hope the weather is fantastic. I can’t go skinnier under foot folks, I can only go bigger, so if there’s another ski out there you think I should go for, please comment below.
If you have a story like mine about the Jah Love, tell us about it. Post it below in the comments section.

I was just reading about this ski’s in ski magazine! They look so fat and so fun.
Maybe if I scrap enough money together next season I can pick up an alpine pair of skis instead of just doing Tele.
I can’t decide whether I want the Jah Love’s though due to the pricy-ness. I have also been looking at the G3 El Hombres for a fatty alpine ski, and suggest you try them sometime.
That sucks that you had to send them in though. How was Pali?
Pali had a sign that said “You Will Hit Rocks” and no doubt you were going to hit rocks. I definitely can wait. As much as I love a challenge, I don’t want to lose more skis this year!
On a better note…I just got the new Jah Loves. I haven’t had an opportunity to ride on them just yet, but once I do I’ll send out a post!
